Chamonix Mont Blanc—Travel

 

 

There are some great flight deal from the UK to Geneva via easyJet , British Airways and BMIbaby

 

Once at Geneva Airport, - you are only 55 minutes away from Chamonix 

To get the best from your holiday in the Chamonix valley we highly recommend hiring a car. Winter roads to Chamonix are normally kept clear but do ensure you have snow chains as conditions can change rapidly.

Driving Instructions from Geneva Airport  -

 

On leaving the Car Rental pick up location, follow SIGNS to Geneva Centre

You will also see a large overhead sign to FRANCE

Go straight on until the T- junction where there are two lanes turning left. Keep over in the right hand one of these two lanes.

 

Turn left and then very SHARP RIGHT following the sign to FRANCE.  Take care as the  right lane is also a bus lane

Follow signs for the A40 and Chamonix. You need your passport handy for passport control.

 

Road Tolls   1.20 & 3.30

After about 80km, you will go over a viaduct into the Chamonix Valley - on a clear day you can see Mont Blanc.  The first place you should look for is Les Houches. 

 

You will  receive specific directions for your chalet along with your final invoice.

Driving from the UK

There are excellent Auto routes providing easy access to Chamonix. 

It will take between 7 – 8 hours to drive the 550 miles from Calais.

Bus or Train

There is a bus service and a train service from Geneva Airport to Chamonix.  However, these journeys do take longer.

 

Eurostar

You can travel by train to St Gervais, and then take a taxi to your Chalet. The Eurostar train leaves Waterloo every evening and via Paris provides a connection to the overnight train to St Gervais.
